I make really great stuff and want to sell at The Bonbi Forest Indie
Emporium, but what is all this stuff about consignment and how does it
work?
The Bonbi Forest Indie Emporium sells the work of other artists and designers
on a consignment basis.
Consigning is a great way of getting your goods ‘out there’ in
to the big wide world with none of the hassle or the upkeep of a store. You
send your goods to us at Bonbi Forest and we look after all the boring bits
like the photography, promotion, packing, shipping and dealing with the orders,
which gives you waaay more time to keep creating! At the end of each month
all your sales are tallied and we send you your takings payment. Of course
you may have your own store already in which case consigning is a great way
of getting your goods seen by a wider audience or to try a different market
with little financial outlay or risk.
All of your items in the store will have your name/ brand name in the product description and we will put a link in our 'Comrade's section to your own website if you have one. We ask that consigned items stay in the shop for a minimum of 2 months and after that you can ask for any unsold stock to be returned to you at any time.
How much will you sell my work for and what do I get from it?
Your work will be sold at whatever retail price YOU specify. We charge a
consignment fee of 40% of the retail price upon sale of the work, which
means that you the designer get 60% of the retail price of each of your
items sold, plus you don’t have to worry about the cost of P&P
or Paypal fees, etc as all sales are made through the Bonbi Forest Indie
Emporium shop.
Payments for work sold are sent out monthly and you can specify whether you would like to be paid by Paypal or by cheque. (If you are international please see below…)
Do you accept international consigners?
Of course! We can accept your work for sale wherever you may be on the globe!
Please note though that all international consigners must agree to receive
their payments by Paypal in GBP Pounds Sterling (Sorry, no exceptions!)
What kind of items do you accept for sale?
The Bonbi Forest Indie Emporium sells anything well made with quality materials
and created with Indie spirit in mind!! We accept all sorts: jewellery,
clothing (men, women and kids!), bags and wallets, accessories, home wares,
artist prints and wall art, paper goods and toys and anything else that
has been designed by independent artists and designers from all over the
world. If you think it would go down well in our store, get in touch!
Please be aware that we will not accept anything offensive and that if we
do accept your items for the shop but upon receipt of your goods we deem
them of an unacceptable standard for sale, we reserve the right to return
them to you.
**WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT BATH AND BODY PRODUCTS AT THIS TIME** sorry but we hope to be able to stock them sometime soon…
Will my items definitely be accepted?
While we like to stock a wide and varied range of goodies, we cannot guarantee
that your items will be accepted for sale. We will only be in touch if your items have been approved for the store.
If you application is unsuccessful please don’t take it badly! It may
be because we don’t think your items are right for the Bonbi Forest
Indie Emporium at this time, or that we simply don’t have enough room
to carry your work. We will keep records of all the artists who apply to
sell and if a suitable vacancy comes available we will be in touch!
How do I know I can trust you folk?
The Bonbi Forest Indie Emporium is mainly run by me, Lee May Foster along
with a couple of other tried and trusted peeps! I am a designer too and
I consign my Bonbi Forest t-shirts with several stores around the world
so I know the concerns you may have first hand. I Love the
indie craft community and it is my primary concern to build up trust between
my fellow Indie Designers and myself.
Upon acceptance we will email you our consignment terms to have a read through and if you decide to consign we ask that you print and sign a copy to send back with your goodies for the shop. For your piece of mind you may also request a shop signed copy which we will post to you before you send us any of your handiwork.
OK, I want to do it! What do I do next?
The first thing to do is decide on what you would like to consign. You know
your work the best so we leave that bit to you, however if you would like
some guidance on what might sell the best in The Bonbi Forest Indie Emporium,
please get in touch and we will try and point you in the right direction.
Initially we can accept up to 20 items. This could be up to 20 different
things, up 20 of the same thing, or just a few items to see how it goes.
It’s entirely up to you!
To get started please send us an email including the following information:
- Who you are: Name and location.
- Some (SMALL!!!) images of the items you would like to consign, and/or a
link to your website if you have one.
- Information about each of these items, including the materials used and
the approx size of each item. If you would like to consign clothing please
let us know the dress sizes.
- The quantity of each item you would like to consign.
- The retail price of each item.
Once we receive you email we will contact you within 10 working days if you have been approved.
