Hello everyone! Just over a week to go until Christmas, I have some very excited, if rather tired children at the moment...roll on the last day of term, I think we could all do without the morning hustle for a couple of weeks!
If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen (or maybe not, I seem to have fallen into a black hole as far as the algorithm is concerned 😩) that back in November I stared sharing pages of a new graphic novel style story I had written in response to the 2021 Folktale Week challenge illustration prompts. The last time I did Folktale Week was back in 2019 and I also wrote a story then, using the prompts to guide me through the story of a little girl called May and her quest to find the meaning of a note given to her by a magical bird.
Well, for 2021 May has been on a new adventure, with the help of the Moon and the same magical bird, trying to find out why the gardens in her town are dying...As it was written in response to daily prompts, which I have noted below, the story is a little flawed but I want to rectify it in the future, or maybe May will have a new adventure before I get around the that, who knows!
Read on to find out more, and if you enjoy it I wanted to let you know that I am sharing an extended version of my 2019 story, Smoke and the Bird, in weekly instalments over on my Patreon at the moment as well as little bits and pieces about the writing of it and character development etc...come and see!
Here you go, it's a long one so settle in and I hope you enjoy it!
