WHERE IS BONBI FOREST AND WHO IS LEE MAY FOSTER-WILSON?
Bonbi Forest is this here website and brand, a home of sorts to all of the artwork and wares made by artist Lee May Foster-Wilson (hello! that’s me by the way). I live by the sea in a rural part of deepest darkest Cornwall in the far south-west of England and in my work I like to explore patterns, rhythms and stories, the connection of people to nature and our relationships with each other. The wild world shapes us and we shape it. You will see that I like shapes and I like colours.
My work can be found adorning cards, prints, hand screen printed scarves and accessories as well as a range of jewellery with images hand applied to lockets, rendered in enamel or cut and printed onto wood and perspex.
My work and wares have been seen in numerous publications, online and in print. If you would like to read some interviews with me check out these links:

HOW ARE YOUR DESIGNS PRINTED? ARE BONBI FOREST PIECES ETHICAL?
All Bonbi Forest screen printed designs are printed at my studio here in Cornwall. They are hand screen printed onto the fabric using water based inks which are kinder to the environment than the ‘Plastisol’ inks used by many large manufacturers. Water based inks don’t have that plasticy feel that plastisol inks have either. They are completely washable and after one wash feel really soft and lovely in the fabrics.
The nice thing about hand printed goods is that they have a unique touch and each print is ever so slightly different, a work of art in itself. The hand that made the print can be seen in the outcome and keeping that quality is a nod to the printing days of yesteryear, before machine printed goods and mass manufacture.
My Scarves are printed onto Fair Trade hand loomed viscose scarves which are imported from India by a recognised Fair Trade and BAFTS registered importer.
HOW ABOUT YOUR JEWELLERY?
My jewellery is another way for my artwork to become wearable and my imagery can be found adorning my very popular range of illustrated lockets, printed onto perspex and wood and rendered in enamel and shiny metals in my pendant range.
I can't resist a charm or two and you will find many of the lockets and other pieces teamed with pewter and brass accents of tiny birds, acorns, moons and paintbrushes to name but a few!
I like to make things a little personal for the wearer too and my enamel pendants feature hand stamped initials and Swarovski crystal birthstones making them lovely gifts and keepsakes.
The jewellery is assembled here in Cornwall by myself and my nimble fingered assistant and Sister-in-Law, Mo.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOU?
As well as making and creating I love to get outside to seek inspiration and I have ridden horses since I was a small child. I used to compete in the sport of dressage until my beautiful daughter, Ruby was born in 2013. In 2015 we welcomed a gorgeous little boy, Ellis into our lives as well.
Away from Bonbi Forest the pair of them keep me very busy indeed but I am lucky enough to be able to get a whiff of horse, saddle up and keep my riding up to scratch every couple of weeks!
This may go some way to explaining the abundance of horses in my work...
WILL YOU LET ME USE YOUR PICTURES FOR MY PERSONAL PROJECTS AND WEBSITE?
